Why choose us?

Swansea High School is a comprehensive, co–educational high school nestled in the picturesque seaside suburb of Caves Beach. In 2025 we have 740 students with 125 (17%) being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. We have an expectation that every student, every teacher, and every support staff member will strive for improvement and excellence every year. Positive relationships and partnerships between the staff, students, parents and the local community are the cornerstones that enable Swansea High School to excel and be considered among the top performing high schools in NSW.

We have been recognised by the NSW Secretary for Education for outstanding learning growth in HSC in consecutive years (2022 and 2023). Our 2024 HSC results were among the best in the school’s history with 13 Band 6 results and over 63% of results in the top 3 Bands. Our Year 9 Literacy and Numeracy value-add results in NAPLAN have been in the top 5% of the State for consecutive years in 2023 and 2024.

Our vision: Swansea High School aims to build upon expectations, connections and achievement of all students and staff. We have an expectation that every student, every teacher, and every support staff member will strive for improvement and excellence every year.

We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school which is student led with high expectations developed by students, for students. The school's PBL values are Respect, Responsibility, Ready to Learn. Strong student voice and student leadership programs are a cornerstone for ensuring students are engaged and well connected to the school.

The partnership we have with our Galgabba Community of Schools is widely considered the benchmark for successful transition programs between primary and high schools. Transition into the high school from our 6 partner primary schools (Blacksmiths PS, Caves Beach PS, Marks Point PS, Nords Wharf PS, Pelican Flat PS and Swansea PS) is seamless due to the ongoing collaborative programs we coordinate together.

There are curriculum, co-curriculum and extra-curriculum programs to support the achievement of personal best that you can identify and learn about by clicking on the appropriate button from the main menu.

All of the administrative information relating to attendance, uniform, fees and payments, medical information and the answers to the most frequently asked questions are in the parent section of the main menu.

I look forward to a productive and positive partnership with all parents / carers and ask you to communicate any issues you have, so we can address and hopefully improve the situation.
